If Wishes Were Horses Dala Horses Folk Art Rainbow – © heidiannemorris Scandinavian Folk Art Tapestry

Two stylised Dala horses beneath a bright rainbow with the phrase If Wishes Were Horses in bold folk‑art lettering. The colourful flowers and Scandinavian detailing create a cheerful design inspired by traditional Dalarna carving and painting. The phrase “If wishes were horses” comes from an early English proverb recorded in the 17th century, often linked to the old rhyme beginning “If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.” It expresses the idea that wishing alone cannot make something happen, giving this piece a playful, thoughtful tone.Artwork by heidiannemorris © first published on 19 September 2026, 20:20 BST.Authentic versions are available only through my official Redbubble shop under the name heidiannemorris.
